About Samuel Joseph Kim:
Samuel Kim is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter based in Southern California. His fusion of moody shoegaze with electronic flourishes shows his desire to have an open mind and heart when it comes to sound and word. His influences come from a variety of sources: from the minimalist melodic guitar work of Low, the song writing sensibility of The Notwist, to the electronic ambient drones of Fennesz. Through his time living in Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and now the United States, he has literally acquired a world of sound within his ears.
The new album “Division” is a new adventure into sound. This album explores the ideas of isolation and separation. In the midst of such vulnerability, one is given hope that divides can be resolved, and hope can be a reality. The pop sensibilities of previous albums are still there, but explorations into textures and soundscape have been introduced. A diverse, and eclectic mix of influences brings about an exciting new direction and a promise of things to come.
Aliases:
Samuel Joseph Kim also has a side project known as “Mount Vermont” [www.myspace.com/mountvermont] that fuses some of his interests in electronic, abstract, and instrumental music.
