Samuel Kim is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter currently based in Washington, DC. His fusion of ethereal shoegaze landscapes with ambient electronic flourishes shows his desire to have an open mind and heart when it comes to sound and word. His influences come from a variety of sources: from the minimalist melodic guitar work of Low, the electronic/indie-pop stylings of The Notwist, to the ambient drones of artists such as The Sight Below. Through his time living in Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and now the United States, he has literally acquired a world of sound within his ears.

For four albums, he went simply by Samuel Kim, but the album, “Division” marked a creative turn in his song writing and in his vision for his music going forward.  To mark the change, he felt that it would be more fitting to go by his full name from here on in.

He is currently at work on a sixth album which will hopefully be finished by the end of 2010.  It has been ten years since his first album release.
